Russia is promoting a wide modernization of the Kazan Aviation Factory, responsible for the production and updating of TU-160 strategic bombers.
Satellite images Analyzed by the Finnish press show the construction of new warehouses on site, including one 320 meters long. The Russian government invested about 1 billion euros in the expansion of the plant, reinforcing its importance to the military and civil aerospace sector.

In addition to the bombers, the site should also house an assembly line for the civil jet production Tu-214with expected capacity for up to 20 units per year. In total, 24 infrastructure projects were planned in the factory, nine of them are already finished and operating, while the others follow in different stages of construction.
Nevertheless, authorities recognize limitations on productive capacity and the high cost of aircraft, which has caused dissatisfaction between customers such as Aeroflot.
Still, the government must maintain the program Tu-214 due to the high value of investments. At the same time, the Kazan plant is still involved in the modernization of Tu-160m and in the maintenance of Tu-22m3. In 2024, however, production was modest: only two Tu-160m and two Tu-160m2 were delivered.
Recently modernized workshops should accelerate the manufacture of parts for bombers, which will be mounted in the factory itself.
