During a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, called the American attacks “unjustified aggression” and said the country is “struggling to help the Iranian people.”
At the meeting, held on the morning of Monday (22), Araye delivered a personal letter from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei asking for more support against Israel and the United States. “It all depends on what Iran needs,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, answering the question about the aid during a press conference. “We offer our mediation efforts. This is concrete,” he added.
The advisor added that Russia openly declares Moscow’s support position to Tehran in the war between Iran and Israel. Peskov noted that the Persian country “was repeatedly discussed” in recent conversations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
During the Iranian Chancellor’s visit to Kremlin, Russian vice-chancer, Sergei Ryabkov, said the partnership with Iran is “unbreakable” and classified the country’s retaliation as “absolutely legitimate.” “Iran is acting within the structure of international law,” he told state agency Tass.
Although Russia has bought Iran’s weapons and signed a 20 -year strategic partnership agreement with the country earlier this year, the alliance does not include mutual defense clauses. The Iranian government expects Putin to provide air defense, missile and satellite intelligence systems.
