The US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, authorized by President Donald Trump and held on Saturday (21), opened a crack within the Republican Party. Republican parliamentarians, both those linked to the conservative movement of Trump, the “Make America Great Again (Maga),” and those that are not, as well as other names with some US right subtitle, have been publicly positioned against US military involvement in the conflict against the Iranian regime.
Among the main critical republicans of the offensive, stand out:
- Marjorie Taylor Greene (Deputy of Georgia):
One of the most active voices of the Maga Movement in Congress, Greene argues that the US should not get involved in new wars abroad. She states that the government should prioritize “internal problems such as economy and health,” and stated: “This is not our war.” - Thomas Massie (Kentucky Deputy):
Massie presented a resolution to bar any intervention without legislative authorization, noting that only Congress can authorize the use of force. He also said on social networks that “this is not our war.” - Warren Davidson (Ohio Deputy):
Davidson questioned the legal basis for the attack against Iran, claiming to be “difficult to conceive of a constitutional justification” for the American operation held on Saturday, and asked for more transparency from the Trump administration about the risks of US military involvement. - Tim Burchett (Tennessee Deputy)
Burchett publicly criticized his other republican colleagues favorable to intervention in the conflict between Israel and Iran, calling them “war explorers.” - Rand Paul (senador do Kentucky):
Rand Paul has already spoken on other occasions against military actions without Congress approval and publicly warned this time for the dangers of a new conflict in the Middle East. He positioned himself against the recent American action in Iran, but said the Persian country cannot have a nuclear bomb.

In the House of Representatives, the official account of the Republican group in X also shared several demonstrations of parliamentarians of the acronym in defense of Trump’s offensive offensive, signaling that support for the action of the White House chief predominates among the republicans in the legislature.
