Tourists were hit by snow in the Atacama region, near the border with Bolivia, and have been arrested since Wednesday (25), according to local newspapers. The local government has set up a night operation to try to rescue tourists. Rescue teams from the region did not confirm the identity of tourists arrested in the snow, but said on Thursday that everyone is in good health, according to reports of rescitists who communicated with the group. “We got in touch with them over the phone, and spent the night well,” said the local police commander. The group of Brazilians spent the night inside a bus, where they traveled when the incident occurred. According to reports, the group circulated by car by Ruta CH-27 when a truck that was in the same way lost control and ended up closing both directions of the track. No one was injured, according to the Local Fire Department commander, but the cars were arrested because of the high snow level, which quickly prevented vehicles from circulating.
