Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) determined that former advisor and former lawn by Jair Bolsonaro, Fábio Wajngarten, and the current lawyer of former President Paulo Costa Bueno, are heard by the Federal Police. The decision was taken under an inquiry investigating possible attempts to obstruct justice related to the award-winning denunciation of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid.
According to the Federal Police, Wajngarten and Bueno would have sought family members of CID to try to obtain information about the collaboration agreement signed by the former presidential order. Cid’s defense handed the PF statements and documents that point out an intense attempt to contact, including the military daughter and the military’s wife.
Moraes’s decision is based on evidence that lawyers also addressed Mauro Cid’s mother during a public event, with the aim of influencing the choice of military defense. The practice, according to the minister, constitutes a possible crime of obstruction of criminal offense investigation involving criminal organization.
Another name cited in the case is lawyer Luiz Eduardo Kuntz, defender of former Bolsonaro advisor Marcelo Câmara, who would also have kept in touch with Cid’s daughter through messages on WhatsApp. Kuntz and Câmara were already prohibited from contact with other investigated, and the breach of the measure led to the prison of the chamber. The Federal Police must present, within ten days, a period of the cell phone of Mauro Cid’s daughter, voluntarily delivered to the investigation.
