Investigators stated that the suspect, motivated by delusions related to a court decision on his divorce, planned the fire carefully: he bought gasoline, dismissed his assets and recognized large Seoul subway stations the day before the attack. On Tuesday, the prosecution said it indicated the 67-year-old man for crimes of attempted murder and a criminal fire. The last major accident in South Korea’s subway system had occurred in 2003, when 192 people died in a fire in the city of Daegu, which led to important improvements in safety standards.
