The electricity bill will follow more expensive in July 2025. The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) decided to keep the Red Tariff Flag, which applies an additional $ 4.46 for every 100 kilowatt hours consumed. The value corresponds to the level 1 of the red flag.
According to Aneel, the below average rainfall scenario continues to affect hydroelectric reservoirs, the main source of generation in Brazil. With low water volume, the system needs to resort to thermoelectric plants, which have more expensive operation and directly impact the amount paid by the consumer.
How the tariff flag system works
Implemented in 2015, the tariff flag system indicates, through colors, the real cost of generating electricity in the country. Signaling allows the consumer to monitor the conditions of the electricity sector monthly and adjust consumption to the moment.
Check out what each color means:
•Green Flag: favorable generation conditions, without additional electricity bill;
•Yellow Flag: Less efficient generation, with an increase of R $ 0.01885 per KWh consumed;
•Red Flag – Patar 1: most expensive generation, with an increase of R $ 0.04463 per kWh (current value in July);
•Red Flag – Left 2: Much more costly generation, with an increase of R $ 0.07877 per kWh.
