Even in the face of the ban imposed by the Hungary government, thousands of people went to the streets of Budapest this Saturday (28), to participate in the 30th edition of the LGBTQIA+Pride March.
This year, the event had an even more political weight. Amid posters, colorful flags and slogans, the protest was also an act of resistance against a new law passed earlier this year by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, which vetoes the conduct of pro-LGBTQIA+ demonstrations in the country.
Orbán, who leads a government of ultra -conservative profile and strongly aligned with Christian values, is known as policies that restrict the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and discourses that feed intolerance. Still, the population responded with presence, transforming the parade into a cry for freedom, diversity and equality.
