Japan executed a 34-year-old man on Friday (27) to death in 2020 for the murder and quartering of nine people, a crime that generated strong commotion in the country.
Known as “Twitter Assassin”, Takahiro Shiraishi used the social network (now called X) in 2017 to go after his victims. According to the Japanese press, all the dead people, aged 16-25, faced some level of depression at the time of the facts.
The convict admitted in the trial that he offered to “help them”. In fact, he murdered the victims, dismembered his bodies and stored in thermal boxes in his apartment, located in the city of Zama, Kanagawa province.
The “Twitter Assassin” was located after the victim’s brother was able to access his account on the social network and locate a conversation with the convict.
Although the Japanese government has not disclosed the form of death of Takahiro Shiraishi, the country executes exclusively for hanging and secret.
The last execution in Japan had occurred in 2022, when Tomohiro Kato was executed. The man was convicted of performing a deadly car and knife attack in 2008 in Akihabara district, which left seven dead.
