Israel’s defense forces (FDI) announced on Monday that they frustrated a terrorist attack and dismantled an explosive laboratory in Ramallah, central West Bank. The operation, carried out by the 7114th Binyamin Brigade Battalion in partnership with the Shin Bet Intelligence Service, resulted in the arrest of several suspects linked to the planning of Israeli civilians and military.
According to the Army information, the laboratory located in Ramallah contained materials used to manufacture bombs. The authorities point out that the action is part of the efforts to prevent attacks and ensure the safety of Israeli citizens. In addition, the FDI and the Civil Administration – an agency of the Ministry of Defense responsible for civil affairs of Israeli and Palestinians in the region – made inspections in Silwad, village to the northeast of Ramallah, to curb illegal buildings used as coverage for attacks with Israeli vehicles on Route 60.
After these episodes, commander of the Central FDI command, General Avi Bluth, determined new actions to reinforce security. “No civilized country can tolerate violent and anarchic acts such as the fire of military facilities, damage to FDI ownership and attacks on security personnel by citizens of the country,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in response to weekend events.
