Israel admits that I wanted to kill Iran leader

by Marcelo Moreira

Israel Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Friday that the country tried to locate Iran’s supreme leader there to murder him. According to him, the Armed Forces “sought a lot” for Aiatola, but could not find him.

Gallant also pointed out that Israel could perform the attack even without authorization from the United States. Sources linked to the US government, however, say the White House tried to avoid the offensive.

The statement of the minister took place on the fourth day after the ceasefire declaration and days after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with ABC News that Ali Khamenei’s death was a real possibility for Israel.

In the conversation with the American channel, on the 16th, Netanyahu said that the elimination of the Iranian leader would put an end to decades of threats and would not expand the lived conflict. “We are trying to prevent this eternal war that Iran wants,” he said.

Amid the climb between Israel and Iran, US President Donald Trump also spoke. In a publication on the Truth Social Network, last Tuesday (17), he said he knew where Khamenei is hidden and classified the leader as an “easy target.”

Despite ensuring that the US did not plan to kill him for now, Trump warned that this could change if American troops were attacked. “Our patience is running out,” he wrote.
