Ali Shamkhani, an important figure in the Iranian regime and a counselor near Aiatola Ali Khamenei, publicly reappeared on Saturday (28) during a funeral of state in Tehran after being killed by the attacks by Israel on June 13.
Shamkhani, who was once secretary of the Supreme National Security Council and held high -ranking positions in both the Ministry of Defense and Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), was seen holding a cane, alongside other Iranian authorities, from images released by state media.
Israel and part of the Iranian press had initially announced their death as a result of an Israeli operation aimed at strategic targets linked to the nuclear program and Iran’s military summit. Shortly thereafter, state -owned vehicles retreated from the initial version of the information and released a message from Shamkhani addressed to the supreme leader: “I’m alive and ready to sacrifice me.”
In recent years, Shamkhani has been one of Iran’s main voices in diplomatic negotiations with the United States about the nuclear program, which were interrupted after the recent escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel.
