Iran charges US indemnity for attacks

by Marcelo Moreira

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Wednesday that the United States should compensate for the country for damage to Iranian military and nuclear complexes during the 12-day war in the Middle East. According to the diplomat, Tehran will submit formal complaints to the United Nations against Washington for the bombing.

“The United States has sent messages to Iran asking for the end of the war, but need to be responsible for the damage caused to our facilities,” Khatibzadeh said in an interview with Lebanese channel To Maydeenreflected by the Iranian state broadcaster Press TV. The deputy minister also held Israel responsible for the attacks and warned that Iran is ready to react to any new offensive.

Despite US President Donald Trump, and accepted by both sides on Tuesday (24), Iranian vice-chancer reinforced the distrust of Washington.

“What could not be achieved through aggression will not be achieved through diplomacy,” said Khatibzadeh, also criticizing the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (AIEA), Rafael Grossi, whom he accused of “preparing the terrain for confrontation.”
