United States President Donald Trump believes in a new ceasefire next week. Israel did not comment on the offensive, but says it only has militants as a target. Palestinians observe Israeli attack crater in Gaza on Saturday (28) Jehad Alshrafi/AP Photo Israeli attacks killed at least 72 people in Gaza during Friday night (27) and Saturday (28), health professionals said, while the prospects of ceasefire are improving after 21 months of war. Three children and their parents were killed in an Israeli attack on a camp in Muwasi, near the city of Khan Youis in the south. They were hit while sleeping, relatives said. “What did these children do to them? What’s their fault?” Said the children’s grandmother, Suad Abu insisters, while others knelt to kiss their bloody faces and cried. Some put red flowers in the corpses. Also among the dead were 12 people near the Palestinian stadium in the city of Gaza, which housed displaced people, and eight others in apartments, according to employees of Hospital Shifa. More than 20 bodies were taken to Nasser Hospital, according to health officials. An attack at noon killed 11 people on a street in the east of the city of Gaza, and their bodies were taken to Al-Ahli Hospital. Another attack on a meeting in eastern Gaza killed eight, including five children, the hospital said. An attack on a meeting at the entrance to the Bureij refugee camp in downtown Gaza killed two, according to Al-Awda Hospital. Hopes of a ceasefire agreement next week US President Donald Trump says there may be a ceasefire agreement next week. Answering reporters questions on Friday, he said, “We’re working in Gaza and trying to take care of it.” An employee of the situation told Associated Press that Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, will arrive in Washington next week for negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza, Iran and other matters. The employee spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to talk to the media. Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas have been underway since Israel broke the last ceasefire in March, continuing their military campaign in Gaza and promoting the terrible humanitarian crisis of the territory. About 50 hostages remain in Gaza, less than half is believed to be still alive. They were among the 251 hostages made when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, triggering the war. “What else is left to do in Gaza that has not yet been done? Who else remains to eliminate?” Yotam Cohen, brother of hostage Nimrod Cohen, said Saturday night as weekly families and supporters were resumed after Israel’s ceasefire with Iran. More than 6,000 dead from the end of the last ceasefire the war killed more than 56,000 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health, which makes no distinction between civilians and combatants. The government agency says that more than half of the dead were women and children and that the dead include 6,089 killed since the end of the last ceasefire. Israel says it is targeted only militants and blames the terrorist group Hamas for the deaths, accusing the militants of hiding among the civilians because they operate in populated areas. There is hope among the hostage families that Trump’s involvement in guaranteeing the recent ceasefire between Israel and Iran can lead to more pressure on a deal in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is surfing a wave of public support to the Iran War and his achievements, and he may feel that he has more room to advance to end the war in Gaza, something his far-right government partners oppose. Hamas repeatedly said that he is prepared to free all hostages in exchange for the end of the war in Gaza. Netanyahu says it will only end the war when Hamas is disarmed and exiled, something the group has rejected. Hundreds were killed while looking for food in the meantime, hungry Palestinians are facing a catastrophic situation in Gaza. After blocking all foods for two and a half months, Israel allowed only a handful of supplies in the territory since mid -May. More than 500 Palestinians were killed and hundreds were injured while seeking food since the newly formed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation began distributing aid in the territory about a month ago, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. Palestinian witnesses say that Israeli troops have opened fire on crowds on the roads that go to the places. The Israeli military say they only fired warning shots and were investigating incidents in which civilians were injured as they approached the places. Thousands of Palestinians walk for hours to reach the places, moving through Israeli military zones. United nations separated efforts to distribute limited foods were tormented by armed gangs looting trucks and crowds of desperate people discharging traine supplies. The death toll on Saturday included two people killed by Israeli shots while waiting to receive help near the Netzarim corridor, a road that separates north and south of Gaza, according to the Al-Shifa and Al-Awda hospitals, which received one body each.
