Brazil created 148,992 job openings with a portfolio signed in May, according to data from the General Register of Employees and Unemployed (CAGED), released on Monday (30) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. The result represents an increase of 6.76% over the same period of 2024, when 139,557 new vacancies were recorded. The number is the result of 2.25 million hires and 2.10 million layoffs.
The services sector pulled the positive balance with time off, with the opening of 70,139 formal jobs. Then appear the trade sectors (+23,258), industry (+21,569), agriculture (+17.348) and construction (+16,678). All the five main economic sectors showed growth in May.
Among the federation units, 26 of the 27 states had positive employment balances. São Paulo led with 33,313 vacancies created, followed by Minas Gerais (20,287) and Rio de Janeiro (13,642). The only state with negative performance was Rio Grande do Sul, which recorded the loss of 115 formal work posts.
The average admission salary in the country was R $ 2,248.71 in May, a drop of R $ 10.98 (-0.49%) compared to the previous month. From January to May 2025, Brazil has the creation of 1,051,244 jobs with a formal contract.
