The case occurred on Thursday afternoon (26), and mobilized a major police operation. The woman, who suffers from mental disorders, positioned a garden chair on the asphalt and kept the weapon close to her face and head, making it difficult for agents to action.

For about five hours, the two lanes of the highway were banned while the police were trying to negotiate with the woman. A crisis management expert was called, and the arrival of the daughter helped calm her. According to sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the presence of the daughter was fundamental for the woman to give up a possible extreme attitude.

The impasse ended without injuries. The woman surrendered and was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation. The driver of the truck involved in the accident was also unharmed. The sheriff considered the positive outcome and pointed out that although the woman can respond for some infractions, the most important thing was to ensure her safety and to avoid the use of strength.
