The expansion of an airport became protest in Spain. With shouts of “no expansion”, a thousand people went to the center of Barcelona to ask for the end of the project that expected to increase the capacity of the city’s main gateway to foreigners.
The idea of the authorities is to invest more than three billion euros – the equivalent of about $ 20 billion. Protesters say the works will make the scenario of excess of tourists worse and will have environmental impacts. Nevertheless, the Spanish government and the airport operator ensure that it is necessary to follow the expansion to increase competitiveness.
